Fully Fabulous—a blog for dynamic grown-up women like you.

This blog has a new name and it’s not subtle. It’s Fully Fabulous! All the content of Style Challengers is still here, but the focus is evolving. Here’s how I came up with the name and what you can expect from this site going forward.

My original blog, Forty Fabulous (you can still read it), began in 2008 as my thesis project for my Masters in Written Communication program at National Louis University. I was 45 at the time. Forty Fabulous explored the unexpected joys of middle age and it led to so many cool opportunities—like my Sex & the Suburbs column, a series of live panel shows, seminars for executives and women’s groups, writing for many publications, and becoming Editor-in-Chief for NS Magazine.

Throughout all those gigs, I always came back to blogging. In 2020, the talented Laura Hine and I founded Style Challengers, with the idea we’d take on weekly challenges to amp up our style and improve our lives. It was fun and engaging. But Laura and her husband moved to New York City and onto new exciting career opportunities. I’ve kept blogging, but now it’s clear the original name no longer fits my solo effort.

You know how life feels like a spiral sometimes? When you take off on a new trajectory only to find yourself back in a new version of the situation you thought you’d left behind? I don’t think it’s an accident. I’m 60 now, but I’m still drawn to explore the same themes I always have:

  • How do we embrace this stage of life and feel fulfilled and excited?
  • How can we move beyond societal pressures and expectations about aging and create our own vibrant paths?
  • How do we negotiate changing relationships with our partners, friends, adult kids and aging parents?
  • How can we feel more pleasure, purpose and connection?

The desire to express oneself fully and live a fabulous life isn’t age specific. Whether I’m 45, 60 or 80, I want to feel alive and turned on and engaged. And I hope the women around me feel the same. This is what we’ll talk about here. Full-grown women deserve to be seen as the wise, competent, creative hotties we are and feel fabulous at every stage of life. Fully Fabulous, let’s go!

60 and ready to take on the world—in comfortable shoes
