Score! These highly rated panties feel great and don’t ride up.

I’ve been on a quest to find new underwear. My current panty wardrobe fits into two categories: 1) functional and frumpy and 2) edgy and wedgie. Neither makes me feel good about myself. I know there are better options out there—comfy, covering, and still stylish. But underwear shopping is intimidating and confusing. Luckily, I came across this Wirecutter article, a roundup of the best women’s underwear.

When you find a pair of comfy panties, don’t be afraid to go big.

One of the headlines announced “a breathable pair with no panty lines” which described exactly the undies I’ve been longing for. I clicked through to the website and ordered three pair of Tommy John Women’s Air Briefs for $48, and have been trying them out for the last two weeks. So far, I’m a fan.

I always order a size up in underwear, because confining panties are pure torture and at 60, comfort is non-negotiable. But when I unwrapped the size medium Air Briefs and held them up, they looked a little too roomy. “Nice granny panties,” said my husband as I inspected them. Should I have ordered a smaller size? When I put them on they were as light as advertised, and had a flattering fit. They weren’t binding or baggy. I just hoped they’d stay put.

Since then I’ve worn these Tommy John panties non-stop. I love how light and comfortable they are. They are great for sports because they’re super thin and dry out quickly. They wash up perfectly in the regular washer and tumble drier. Most of the time I’ve had no trouble with them riding up or creating awkward panty lines, although once, when I wore them under a skirt, I felt like they moved around a bit. I may give the smaller size a try next time.

Overall, I’m giving the Air Briefs a big thumbs up for everyday wear. I’m not going to post a pic of myself, but here’s how they look on a normal sized model:

If you’re looking for a different level of coverage, the Air comes in high rise and thong styles too. I’m not sponsored by Tommy John (or anybody!). I just want to share a great find in a category that’s hard to shop. I’d love to hear your recommendations. Please share what works for you in the comments below.
